Kids With The Stomach Flu
Was your latest bout of the stomach flu really the stomach flu? Or was it some other virus that found its way into your intestines? Kid get sick and throw up all the time -- is it always the stomach flu? Actually, it is probably not. It turns out that what most of us think of as the stomach flu is really something else, a gastrointestinal virus. The flu is actually a respiratory illness, everyone just thinks that the stomach flu is that horrible sickly diarrhea. Even some doctors have started calling it the flu, just so people know what they are talking about.
If you have children, then you probably know how much the stomach flu can affect them. In most cases the name of the virus that they actually have is the Rotavirus. This is especially common in small children. This is not the only thing that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Your child could be sick due to some nasty bacteria that found its way in, or even parasites. If your child is ill for more than a couple of days or is running a fever, it is always better to be safe than sorry, and take your child to the doctor.
A lot of times parents don't want to call the doctor about the stomach flu, but it is okay to if you are worried. That is what doctors are for, to support you and let you know what is going on, so that you don't have to worry about it any more.
The notion that the stomach flu is only supposed to last a day or so is completely off the mark. Most people stay sick with the stomach flu for days -- even a week. It all depends on which kind of stomach flu you or your child gets, because some are just stronger and nastier than others.
Whatever you do when your child has the stomach flu, you need to keep him or her well-hydrated. Lots and lots of water is going to make the stomach flu go away that much sooner, and it is going to keep your child feeling better than they would without the fluids. This is even more important if your child has diarrhea. In this case, it can be downright dangerous if your son or daughter is not getting enough water. You may want to look into getting some Pediasure, as it has the electrolytes your child's body needs when it is dehydrated.

Parents Feel Relief When Kids Consolidate Student Loans
When students or parents decide to consolidate student loans, it can take much of the financial burden off of the parents. The college years are costly and lengthy, but supportive parents do what they can to help their kids make it through and graduate. This often involves taking out loans to help pay for tuition, room and board, books, and other college expenses. By the time little Susie walks to Pomp and Circumstance, there can be several loans in existence, totaling tens of thousands of dollars. If these loans are left open individually, it will mean several expensive payments each month until they are all paid off. However, parents can reduce both the number of payments being made and the amount being paid if they choose to consolidate ...

Kids Bedding - Finding the Right Fit
Some 2 year olds still sleep in a crib, some sleep in a toddler bed, some in a twin size bed, and a few even sleep in a full size bed. What size bed a child sleeps in can be determined by many factors, including space of the child's room, how they like to sleep (some children like to feel compressed in a tight space when asleep, while others like to have room to roll around), the child's siblings and if they share a room and/or bed, and many other things.

Tips For Kids Home Alone
About half of school-age kids stay at home by themselves for part of the day. Allowing your child to stay home alone can be great for her confidence and self-esteem, and it?s a good way to teach self-reliance. But, on the other hand, it?s important that your child is ready for the extra responsibility. To make sure she is ready to stay alone and fend for herself for a few hours, take some time to talk to your child about safety, house rules, and her feelings about being home alone.

Important Lessons Kids can Learn Through Gardening
My children enjoy working in the garden. They like to plant seeds and then watch them grow into sunflowers, tomatoes, peaches, and even pears. It is something they have grown up with. They watched their grandfather plant his vegetable garden and their grandmother her flowers and when they were old enough, they were allowed to help. They enjoy seeing the fruits of their labor and eating the delicious fruit grown on the trees on the family farm.
